Amazing what a couple of positive developments can do for investor sentiment and stock prices. I cannot complain (too much on) how things have been progressing lately…New biotech cycle; Spring cleaning in the top executive ranks at the US Food and Drug Administration has lead to several positive reversals for drug developments. Of most interest to me are… AMT-130 against Huntington’s Disease from uniQure QURE.us, and RGX-121 against Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II)… hmmmhhh, let’s just stick to calling it Hunter Syndrome from Regenxbio RGNX.us…Source: WSJ.com …because both therapies rely on ClearPoint Neuro CLPT.us 🏷️ for their delivery in the exact right spot in the brain. These therapies now seems firmly on track for US market approval in 2027. That means that the number of commercial therapies supported by ClearPoint Neuro will likely go from just 1 now (Kebilidi / Upstaza against AADC from PTC Therapeutics PTCT.us), to at least 3 in 2027. Hockey stick revenue curve here we come!A much more sensible and accommodating FDA leadership in place, in my mind, means faster-time-to-market for highly expensive drug development, less cash-burn, better chances for market approval, higher investment appetite, lower cost of funding for biopharma companies, lower (extreme) dilution risk, et cetera, et cetera. With ClearPoint soon supporting 3 FDA-approved drugs, and with 60+ biopharma partners lined up to be next, hundreds of millions in revenue potential (and potentially much more)… I find it incredible that CLPT still just trades for a meazly USD 0.5bn. Heck in today’s throthy markets I find it an insult that the company is trading below USD 100bn market cap given how over-valued other stuff is. 🤪🤪 No investment advice, of course, but… you can also check the Jam Conviction Meter (f🔐) to see how much I have riding on something...Jam's Conviction MeterFurther below, I make a case for a ClearPoint share price of at least USD 30-100, looking several years out, vs sub USD 20 now.Open Lending LPRO.us received a buyout offer from its top insurance partner/customer. I wrote some thoughts on that, here…On the bright side that meant an 80%+ gain from, April Fool’s Day last year, when I first stuck my neck out to defend the stock. Moreover, it transfers the market and execution risk to someone else (assuming the deal closes… which I am not at all convinced about). On the downside, the buyout offer happens at the trough of the cycle/turnaround, just when management was moving the company back into growth mode. Basically, I saw good chances for considerable value creation much beyond what is reflected in the USD 3.15 cash/share offer.Labat Africa LAB.jo / JSELAB was perhaps the biggest surprise of all, with the announcement of a maiden ZAR 0.01 dividend. Hilariously, the suspected fraud was trading in the ZAR 0.01-0.02 range just before the announcement, implying a 50-100% divi yield! Obviously, dividend announcements do lower the likelihood of fraud and are a good way to re-capture some of the investment cost… So, it’s not too surprising that the stock has been rebounding a bit after the announcement.Kaspi, Kazakhstan’s leading e-commerce platform and fintech, announced regulatory approval for the acquisition of Rabobank Turkiye. Remember, the short report on Kaspi from a few months back, citing regulatory issues, potential sanction breaches, et cetera? Well, nothing says better that you have a clean bill of health than clearance to acquire a business so heavily regulated as a bank. So, I am happy to see this approval on that front, and also of course excited to monitor whether Kaspi can re-create its Kazahk success in Turkiye. Even a fraction of the success in Kazakhstan could be very significant for shareholder value creation given the 4x larger size of the population in Turkiye.Source: Kaspi 2024Q3 presenation I am amazed that Kaspi’s stock is still available with a dividend yield of 8%+, aren’t you?If I may just express a small complaint…… Oil & Gas and absurd-cheap HK 第部分s are out of fashion again. So, don’t be too surprised to see me scoop up some more if you keep on tossing them out...I for one can certainly understand the investor frustrations with absurd-cheap HK 第部分s. There are definitely some dodgy things going on in that space, such as with all the controlling interests that are changing hands at artificially low prices, likely with the sole aim of suppressing the price for minority shareholders in the subsequent mandatory takeover offers. I wrote about this and a specific shareholder complaint at $1376.hk - Raffles Interior in the post below (that I published but did not sent out)…Jaminvest resourcesSome useful links to key resources on Jaminvest. 🏷️ - Financial models/templates/et cetera (f🔐)🏷️ - Hong Kong (sub-)portfolio posts » » - Jam ‘Friends & Family’, open to friends and (past and current) paying subscribers of jaminvest…Jam_invest F&FMy personal Substack » » - Stock/Company list (2026), alphabetical lists of many of the stocks mentioned🏷️ - Tutorials including Excel sheets🏷️ - Portfolio posts (f🔐)Jam's Conviction Meter…Please find the disclaimer for all @ content » here.
