Hello,This month I decided to do something a little different instead of another deep dive on a single idea. I’m calling it Watchlist Inflections.I follow A LOT of companies, now well into the hundreds, and every earnings season there are a few where something changes enough to make me look at the setup differently. Maybe top line growth accelerates, margins inflect, capital allocation improves, an activist gets involved or some other development turns what looked like an average watchlist name into something much more interesting. These are not necessarily the companies with the highest revenue growth, otherwise I’d probably end up talking mostly about data center and memory stocks. They are also not necessarily the companies that reported the “best” quarters. What I’m more interested in are developments that I think have yet to be fully noticed or properly priced in by the market. A great quarter alone isn’t enough if the valuation already reflects it or if I don’t think the results are sustainable. There still needs to be an interesting risk/reward from here. These are also not stocks I own today. Some may eventually make it into my portfolio, while others probably won’t, but I still think they are worth passing along to readers who might see them as potential additions to their own portfolios or simply something worth researching further. I’ll also explain why I haven’t bought each one yet, because moving up my watchlist obviously isn’t the same thing as clearing the bar for an investment. For this first edition, I’m profiling four very different setups: one bombed out SaaS, one dirt cheap shitco with activist involvement, one cannabis cycle survivor with an $800M war chest and inflecting operations as well as one coal royalty landlord moving from deleveraging to distributions.Let’s dig in.
