Massif Capital William M. Thomson | “Alphamin Resources reported record Q1 EBITDA of $158 million on realized tin prices of $49,278 a tonne, paid a C$0.13-per-share final dividend on June 5, and spent the back half of June trading with tin, down 6% on June 24 and up 5.6% two days later as tin held near $50,000 a ton. Meanwhile, the stock, which we fully understand will never trade at its proper fundamental value as it is a single asset firm in the Democratic Republic of Congo and if there is anything market participants don't understand it is Africa related risks, is on pace this year, in our estimation, to produce $500 million in free cash flow on a market capitalization in USD of roughly $1 billion. Between Ebola, M23 rebels, and the general high level of ignorance of Africa in general, let alone specific locations in Africa, AFM should trade at a discount fundamental value, but these are not new risks, they are the risks the firm has managed successfully for a decade. Some credit for that track record and the operational acumen of management is warranted. While the market catches up with reality, we will need to be satisfied with this year's dividend, which we estimate will be greater than 12%.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Aug 6, 2026 | View Pitch |
