Baron FinTech Fund Josh Saltman | “Intuit Inc. is the leading provider of accounting software for small businesses and tax preparation software for individuals and tax professionals. Shares fell due to modest underperformance in the TurboTax segment, where revenue grew 7%, falling short of expectations for 8% growth. Management acknowledged volume losses among lower income filers who traded down to cheaper alternatives, fueling investor anxiety about competition and potential AI-driven disruption. Negative sentiment was further compounded by a 17% workforce reduction, which some investors interpreted as a defensive move to protect margins and a signal of demand challenges. Despite headwinds in some parts of the business, overall growth remains robust, with management expecting earnings growth of 18% this year and mid-teens growth over the coming years.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Aug 26, 2026 | View Pitch |
Mott Capital Management Michael Kramer | “During the quarter, I bought shares of Intuit, ServiceNow, and Cboe Global Markets for the strategy. These are companies I have watched for years while waiting for an opportunity to buy them because they have strong businesses and play integral roles in their industries. Intuit and ServiceNow operate software-as-a-service business models that deliver high growth rates and strong margins. Both are industry leaders with pricing power and, in my view, are not easily displaced by integration of AI. If implemented effectively, I also believe AI could support further growth, as customers may pay for access to data feeds and tools that improve information flow and efficiency.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Aug 18, 2026 | View Pitch |
Baron Durable Advantage Fund Alex Umansky | “Intuit Inc. is the leading provider of accounting software for small businesses and tax preparation software for individuals and tax professionals. Shares fell 36.5% due to modest underperformance in the TurboTax segment where revenue growth of 7% missed expectations for 8% growth. Management acknowledged volume loss from lower income filers who traded down to cheaper alternatives, fueling investor anxiety about competition and potential AI-driven disruption. The negative sentiment was further compounded by a 17% workforce reduction, which some investors interpreted as a defensive move to protect margins and an indicator of demand challenges. We decided to reallocate to other ideas.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Aug 12, 2026 | View Pitch |
SGA - U.S. Large Cap Growth Tucker Brown | “We liquidated our position in Intuit during the quarter. Following the company's fiscal third quarter results, we became increasingly concerned with the DIY Tax weakness, continued deterioration in Mailchimp, and reduced visibility on the timing of any growth reacceleration, as well as management's ability to execute in a challenging environment. As a result, we exited the position and reallocated the capital to other higher confidence opportunities in the portfolio. Intuit was a detractor from performance during the quarter. The company reported fiscal third quarter results that included a modest revenue beat and a full-year guidance increase, though results were overshadowed by weaker than expected Consumer Tax performance. TurboTax revenue grew 7%, below guidance, with notable weakness in the DIY segment. Management cited pressure among lower income, price sensitive filers and a contraction in total IRS filers of roughly 30 basis points. Despite double-digit revenue growth and ongoing margin expansion above 40%, we became increasingly concerned with the DIY Tax weakness, continued deterioration in Mailchimp, and reduced visibility on the timing of any growth reacceleration, as well as management's ability to execute in a challenging environment. Given these factors, we chose to exit the position and reallocate the capital to higher conviction opportunities in the portfolio with clearer visibility into durable growth.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Jul 30, 2026 | View Pitch |

The Bristol Gate U.S. Equity Strategy Achilleas Taxildaris | “Intuit was the largest detractor with the share price down significantly after its quarterly report disappointed investors. This compounded fears that parts of its business could be disrupted by AI. We liquidated our stakes in Accenture and Intuit due to overlapping thematic headwinds. Both companies face intensifying market scrutiny regarding the potential for generative AI to disrupt their core business models. Accenture's labour-intensive consulting framework and Intuit's legacy software franchise. Because these structural debates will take considerable time to resolve, the near-term visibility on earnings durability has diminished. More critically, our forward-looking model signaled a material deterioration in their projected dividend-growth trajectories.” | BEAR | Q2 2026 Jul 21, 2026 | View Pitch |
Guinness Global Innovators Dr Ian Mortimer, CFA | “Intuit returned -40.2% in USD over Q2 and was sold during the quarter. We initially bought Intuit for its market-leading position in mission-critical tax and accounting software, a deeply embedded QuickBooks platform with significant switching costs, and a strong consumer brand in TurboTax. QuickBooks' c.80% market share, high customer retention and accountant-led distribution created a durable competitive advantage, while Intuit's expanding ecosystem across payments, payroll, lending, Mailchimp, and tax services provided a clear runway for long-term growth and further monetisation. Toward the end of 2025 and in early 2026, markets became increasingly concerned with the 'Saaspocalypse', the implications of AI disruption of the software sector, causing sentiment on the stock to sour. While Intuit continued to deliver resilient results overall, its most recent earnings print changed the thesis for us. Revenue and earnings were modestly ahead of consensus, but the quarter was overshadowed by disappointing TurboTax performance, where revenue growth of 7% fell short of expectations (c.8%) and paid DIY returns declined sharply, particularly among price-sensitive, lower-income filers. This reignited concerns that Intuit's pricing power and share at the lower end of the tax market may be more vulnerable than previously anticipated. In particular, TurboTax's DIY weakness, combined with management's shift toward 'value-based' pricing, suggests that the moat around simple tax filing may be eroding faster than expected.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Jul 17, 2026 | View Pitch |
L1 Capital International Fund David Steinthal | “Intercontinental Exchange and Intuit each detracted from the Fund's performance by more than 1.0%. Intuit's Q3 2026 quarterly results were moderately below our – and the market's – expectations. The share price fell nearly 40% during the June 2026 quarter. While we consider the market's response excessive, it was not without reason. Intuit operates a number of software businesses. QuickBooks (accounting, payroll and payments) continues to perform solidly although growth rates are expected to slow. Credit Karma (personal finance) has performed exceptionally well, while Mailchimp (marketing) has struggled since acquisition although this is not new information. The core disappointment was the TurboTax business. TurboTax is a tale of two cities. Intuit has been investing in AI for many years. TurboTax has developed a hybrid offering between AI driven software and a human tax expert called TurboTax Live which is rapidly disrupting the 'do it for me' tax filing industry. This part of TurboTax grew at a mid-30s growth rate and is now over 50% of total TurboTax revenue. However, the 'do it yourself' TurboTax product lost meaningful share amongst price sensitive, low-income filers, causing a modest downgrade to expected total TurboTax divisional growth from around 8% to around 7% for FY2026. On its surface the slightly lower revenue expectations look de minimis, but we had expected Intuit to exceed its prior guidance. The key investment question is whether recent market share loss reflects temporary execution issues or a structural change in competitive dynamics resulting from AI. Intuit is now trading well below our assessment of fair value. Execution will be critical and evidence of improvement will take time. Given the heightened uncertainty, the now smaller position reflects what we consider to be an appropriate balance between risk and potential return.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Jul 17, 2026 | View Pitch |
Fundsmith Equity Fund Terry Smith | “We previously sold a position we held in Intuit, the accounting and tax software company, after it acquired Mailchimp in 2021 because we felt that Mailchimp fell outside its circle of competence and they paid about three times the right price, something which they attempted to justify by pointing out that half the consideration paid was in Intuit shares. What this implied about their valuation seemed obvious to us. For a while after we sold the shares AI hype drove the price but latterly the poor performance of the Mailchimp acquisition has become evident and reflected in the share price. We have started to rebuild a stake in the hope that the management has learned from the debacle. BSD Analysis: Intuit's moat is workflow lock-in for small businesses and consumers—tax and accounting are not categories people “switch for fun.” The platform has pricing power because compliance risk and habit are stronger than feature comparisons. The risk is that AI could commoditize parts of preparation and advice, attracting new entrants at the edges. Still, distribution and trust matter in money workflows. Credit Karma adds growth but introduces cyclicality and regulatory sensitivity. The bull case is continued cross-sell across TurboTax, QuickBooks, and services. The bear case is slower growth and political attention in consumer finance. Intuit is a compounding machine when execution stays disciplined. It's priced like discipline is guaranteed.” | BULL | Q4 2025 Jan 1, 2026 | View Pitch |
L1 Capital International Fund David Steinthal | “Intuit is another leading software holding where we believe AI-related concerns are overly reflected in the share price and is currently trading on decade low earnings multiples. BSD Analysis: Intuit owns the financial nervous system of small businesses and consumers, and that position only strengthens as regulation and complexity rise. TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Credit Karma create an ecosystem that's incredibly difficult to displace. AI improves efficiency and customer experience without disrupting the core model. Pricing power remains strong because switching costs are real, not theoretical. Even in downturns, compliance-driven demand holds up. Investors often underestimate how mission-critical Intuit's products are. This is a textbook compounder with technology tailwinds layered on top.” | BULL | Q4 2025 Dec 31, 2025 | View Pitch |
Edgewood Management Alan Breed | “The manager maintains a positive view of the company following robust quarterly results and solid future guidance. Although shares fell due to broader software sector fears regarding AI disruption, the manager believes the platform is well-positioned to integrate agentic AI into its key product lines and enhance customer monetization.” | BULL | Q3 2025 Sep 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
The Bristol Gate U.S. Equity Strategy Achilleas Taxildaris | “Intuit shares declined on conservative FY2026 guidance, forecasting 12% revenue and 14.5% EPS growth, slightly below consensus. Weakness in MailChimp and TurboTax units drove investor disappointment, though management emphasized growth in assisted tax and enterprise accounting. BSD Analysis: Intuit's disciplined strategy toward higher-value customers, recurring SaaS revenue, and cross-sell within its ecosystem support long-term compounding. With double-digit EPS growth, robust cash flow, and margin resilience, Intuit's fundamentals remain strong. Near-term sentiment-driven weakness provides an attractive re-entry point for a high-ROIC software franchise.” | BULL | Q3 2025 Sep 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
Mar Vista US Quality Silas Myers, Brian Massey | “Intuit's (INTU) shares came under pressure during the quarter as investors grew concerned that autonomous AI agents could weaken the competitive position of traditional software-as-a-service providers. While we acknowledge these dynamics, we believe Intuit is well positioned to benefit from the shift. Over five years ago, management invested heavily in an AI-driven expert platform that blends artificial intelligence with human expertise. This strategy has yielded “done-for-you” solutions across TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Credit Karma, including TurboTax Live, now a $2 billion business that grew over 40% in FY 2025. With agentic AI likely to become pervasive across enterprise software, we believe Intuit is well placed to harness these capabilities, supporting above-average revenue and earnings growth over our investment horizon. BSD Analysis: Intuit owns small business financial software and consumer tax — two categories with extreme stickiness and structural pricing power. AI features in QuickBooks and TurboTax deepen user integration and widen the moat. The ecosystem flywheel keeps spinning: payroll → payments → marketing → compliance. Intuit's operating leverage is elite, and churn is almost nonexistent. The company isn't cheap, but neither is dominance.” | BULL | Q3 2025 Sep 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
Macquarie Large Cap Growth Fund Delaware Management Company (now part of Nomura Asset Management) | “Intuit, operator of TurboTax and QuickBooks, faced several headwinds in 2025, though its business fundamentals remain solid. During the quarter, the stock declined when OpenAI announced a new, more advanced large language model, which the market perceived as a threat to application software broadly. We have not seen evidence that this poses a near- or medium-term threat to Intuit's business; in fact, it may present new opportunities. Key growth drivers, such as the shift to take market share from the assisted tax preparation category and also penetration into the mid-market accounting market, are going extremely well despite downbeat market sentiment due to unfounded AI threats. BSD Analysis: Intuit dominates SMB financial software with QuickBooks, owns the tax category with TurboTax, and continues to build a massive ecosystem through Mailchimp and AI-assisted workflows. Network effects are strengthening as customers add more modules. Margins are expanding, cash generation is monstrous, and retention is exceptional. Intuit transitions from “software provider” to “financial operating system” more each year. A high-confidence compounder with few real challengers.” | BULL | Q3 2025 Sep 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
