ClearBridge Investments All Cap Growth Evan Bauman, Erica Furfaro, Aram Green, Amanda Leithe, Margaret Vitrano | “In IT, we added Synopsys and Palantir Technologies. Palantir is a software-as-a-service provider with an AI-powered operating system that connects data to existing customer applications. Palantir's platform acts as a hub to improve business outcomes across government and commercial end markets, allowing users to synthesize diverse data sources into actionable insights in real time. The company is highly profitable and growing rapidly at scale with 80%+ gross margins. Given the stock's more elevated valuation we are being mindful of position size.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Aug 14, 2026 | View Pitch |
Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund Michael Clarke, Thomas Trentman | “Palantir is a data intelligence and operational AI platform that helps governments and enterprises solve complex challenges by integrating and analyzing data across functions. Our holding was a detractor during the quarter, as shares declined despite reporting very strong first-quarter results. Revenue growth accelerated meaningfully, the company delivered a record guidance raise, and profitability continued to improve, with strong incremental margins and continued GAAP earnings growth. In our view, the stock reaction reflected elevated expectations and ongoing investor debate around valuation and competition from AI labs, rather than deterioration in the underlying business. We believe Palantir is increasingly proving itself as a clear winner in artificial intelligence, with its platform tied to durable growth themes including defense modernization, reindustrialization, energy buildout, and space. We maintain conviction, supported by Palantir's differentiated software platform, expanding customer adoption, and ability to translate AI demand into profitable growth.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Jul 31, 2026 | View Pitch |
Ithaka US Growth Strategy Scott O'Gorman, Andy Colyer, Daniel White | “From the front-lines of war zones to Fortune 500 enterprises, Palantir Technologies builds software to address high-level action items, respond to defense and security concerns, and improve organizational efficiency. The company offers a number of software products from data analysis and curation (Palantir Gotham and Foundry) to a cloud-based operations software (Apollo). The company rose to popularity, in part, due to several government contracts (~55% of revenues) arising from recent and continuous global conflicts. In addition to creating generative AI defense solutions for governments across the globe, commercial customers (~45% of revenues) have flocked to the company's security and data analysis solutions to monitor and analyze business data and protect sensitive information. The stock's fall in the quarter was due to the market moving Palantir from an AI beneficiary to the 'SaaS-pocalypse' basket, which led to aggressive multiple contraction despite still pristine fundamental performance.” | NEUTRAL | Q2 2026 Jul 17, 2026 | View Pitch |
Warden Capital Hawkins Entrekin | “Unfortunately the software firm I am short, Palantir, has surprisingly not fallen very much despite being massively more highly valued than any other software firm. Perhaps I should have taken a broader basket, but I remain convinced that Palantir has a lot of potential downside given its rich valuation. And it is especially nice as a hedge against a downturn. BSD Analysis: Palantir enters 2026 as a foundational player in the "Sovereign AI" market, having recently secured key roles in EMEA data center infrastructure and a group-wide AI expansion with HD Hyundai. The stock remains a high-growth favorite, up 77.7% over the past year, as the company successfully moves beyond its specialized government roots into large-scale industrial AI deployments. For 2026, the investment case is centered on the rapid adoption of its AIP (Artificial Intelligence Platform), which is being embedded in mission-critical shipbuilding, robotics, and logistics workloads. While recent pullbacks in early 2026 have created short-term volatility, the long-term trend remains positive as the firm shifts its revenue mix toward high-margin commercial contracts. Management's focus on "national-security grade" software allows it to maintain significant pricing power in an increasingly crowded enterprise AI field. As Palantir scales its EMEA sovereign footprint, investors are closely watching for continued acceleration in commercial customer acquisition as the primary driver for a valuation re-rating.” | BEAR | Q4 2025 Feb 2, 2026 | View Pitch |
ACATIS Investment Dr. Hendrik Leber | “Palantir, the specialist for AI-supported data analysis, was sold due to its significant dependency on US government business and the resulting political risks for international contracts as tensions between the US and the rest of the world escalate. Also, the company's value has reached extremely high levels following the outstanding performance of recent months. BSD Analysis: Palantir has transitioned from narrative-heavy to profitability-focused, and that shift matters. Government contracts anchor credibility and cash flow. Commercial growth is improving, but sales execution still defines the ceiling. Its platforms become sticky once integrated into mission-critical workflows. AI exposure adds momentum, though expectations can outrun fundamentals. Margins scale well as software adoption deepens. Political visibility cuts both ways. This is not a pure AI moonshot. It's data infrastructure with real operating leverage.” | BEAR | Q4 2025 Jan 12, 2026 | View Pitch |
ClearBridge Investments Large Cap Growth Strategy Erica Furfaro, Margaret Vitrano | “For example, not owning AI operating system software maker Palantir Technologies was a headwind but, at current levels, we think very aggressive future growth assumptions are already factored into the valuation. BSD Analysis: Palantir is a product-driven company that sells like a consultancy and markets like a religion. The tech is real—data integration at scale is hard—and the government franchise is sticky. The commercial story is improving, but still dependent on conversion of pilots into durable, standardized deployments. The AI narrative helps, yet the market often prices Palantir like it already won the platform war. The risk is that growth remains lumpy and procurement-led, not viral. Margins can look great in good quarters, then normalize when hiring and implementation ramp. Bulls see a generational OS for enterprises; bears see a high-multiple niche vendor with cult premium. Palantir thrives when fear and urgency dominate buying decisions. The stock is a sentiment amplifier attached to a real business.” | BEAR | Q4 2025 Dec 31, 2025 | View Pitch |
Warden Capital Hawkins Entrekin | “The reason I hedge here is that Palantir itself is very broad and vague as to what it actually does, but the above is my understanding from ground level research. What is interesting about PLTR is the valuation. Palantir, trading at a wild ~nearly 90 times revenues and 400+ times earnings as of this writing, is by some measures the most expensive large cap stock ever to exist, and is still one of the most expensive ever when looking across any stock size. Given PLTR trades at ~90 times sales, what this means PLTR has to literally ~9x their revenues to grow into the current valuation. To do this over 5 years would require ~54% annual revenue growth; over 7 years ~36% per year. Business software has just never grown at the rate Palantir needs to justify its valuation at Palantir's current scale. If we have a recession I will bet that tech multiples are not 10x sales, but closer to 5x or even lower, which would compound with slower growth and could easily see Palantir trade materially lower. I'm willing to take the other side of that bet, particularly as a hedge. BSD Analysis: Palantir is a high-stakes, high-conviction AI software powerhouse whose value is locked in the successful monetization of its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) across the commercial enterprise. The core thesis is driven by the company's unassailable dominance in AI-powered operational decision-making, leveraging its deep government experience to solve complex commercial problems. The AIP Ontology is its true moat, serving as a unified data model that makes complex enterprise data legible to LLMs, thereby minimizing hallucinations and increasing utility. The stock is a high-risk, high-reward play on its ability to rapidly monetize its unique AI technology in the private sector.” | BEAR | Q2 2025 Jul 9, 2025 | View Pitch |
Alger Mid Cap Focus Fund Amy Zhang | “Palantir Technologies is a leading provider of data analytics software designed to integrate and analyze large, complex datasets for government agencies and commercial enterprises globally. Its platforms, such as Gotham and Foundry, enable users to rapidly visualize and interpret critical data to inform high-impact decisions across defense, intelligence, and corporate sectors. The company has benefitted from its ability to consistently expand revenues in both its Government and Commercial segments, driven by growing adoption of AI solutions and increasing government spending on defense and intelligence capabilities. During the quarter, Palantir shares rose significantly supported by strong fiscal first-quarter results featuring 39% year-over-year revenue growth, driven by robust increases in U.S. commercial and government contracts. Management also raised full-year revenue guidance, citing increased demand for AI-driven solutions and the positive impact of rising defense expenditures. BSD Analysis: Palantir is the AI defense contractor masquerading as a software company — and its U.S. government moat is becoming more valuable by the quarter. The company's AI Platform (AIP) is exploding in commercial adoption thanks to its ability to deploy real AI workflows, not slide-deck fantasies. Government work remains sticky, high-margin, and expanding as geopolitical tension rises. Palantir's operating discipline has improved dramatically, turning it from a money-burning enigma into a real FCF generator. The stock still gets hated for valuation, but Palantir is one of the few enterprise AI vendors selling tools that actually do something in production. This is a misunderstood AI infrastructure play with years of runway.” | BULL | Q2 2025 Jul 6, 2025 | View Pitch |
Vision Capital Eugene Ng | “Singularity to plurarity. We have increasingly found that some of the best long-term compounders start deep with a singular product or service in one market, providing significant customer value and being profitable on a unit economic level, often expand to include more products or services and to more similar markets and geographies. The additional layered products and services typically strengthen the network effects, making the product or service stickier, driving higher customer retention, usage, reliance, and the willingness to spend more. Over time, this results in one of n, where the company becomes significantly larger... There are numerous examples in our fund... Palantir, from data integration and analysis with government agencies to enterprises. BSD Analysis: Palantir is a high-stakes, high-conviction AI software powerhouse whose value is locked in the successful monetization of its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) across the commercial enterprise. The core thesis is driven by the company's unassailable dominance in AI-powered operational decision-making, which allows complex organizations to move beyond simple data analytics to action-driven automation. The AIP Ontology is its true moat, serving as a unified data model that makes complex enterprise data legible to LLMs, thereby minimizing hallucinations and increasing utility. Palantir is leveraging its deep government expertise to sell pre-built AI applications for complex industrial use cases like supply chain logistics, equipment surveillance, and dynamic pricing. The stock is a high-risk, high-reward play on its ability to rapidly monetize its unique AI technology in the private sector.” | BULL | Q2 2025 Jul 2, 2025 | View Pitch |
ClearBridge Mid Cap Growth Strategy Brian Angerame, Jeffrey Bailin, Aram Green, Matthew Lilling | “Palantir, which has been a highly controversial stock due to excessive valuation and strong retail participation, rose 55% during the quarter, driven by the AI and growth-led rally and heightened attention to security. This proved a significant headwind for relative Strategy performance, but it could have been several times that amount had the team not initiated a modest position as a risk management strategy. We exited Palantir as it left the benchmark at the end of the quarter. BSD Analysis: Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) Palantir is a high-conviction bet on enterprise AI adoption, leveraging its proprietary Gotham and Foundry platforms to solve mission-critical data integration problems for both government and commercial clients. The "edgy" thesis is that its AI Platform (AIP) is the definitive operating system for large enterprises managing complex GenAI deployments, creating a structural lock-in effect for customers like the U.S. military. The company's recent pivot to aggressive sales-led commercial growth has unlocked a path to sustained GAAP profitability, which, combined with the extreme operating leverage inherent in its software model, makes it an explosive growth-at-a-reasonable-price (GARP) candidate if the commercial momentum holds.” | BULL | Q2 2025 Jun 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
ClearBridge Investments All Cap Growth Evan Bauman, Erica Furfaro, Aram Green, Amanda Leithe, Margaret Vitrano | “In IT, we added Synopsys and Palantir Technologies. Synopsys is a leader in electronic design automation (EDA) software and custom chip designs, operating in a duopoly market with multiple avenues of growth driven by the increased complexity of semiconductor chips. The company's EDA software and tools are mission critical and difficult to replicate, providing defense to its high-margin business model. Given the stock's more elevated valuation we are being mindful of position size. BSD Analysis: Palantir is the most controversial stock in tech, trading at an absurd valuation, but justified by its brutal transition from a government contractor to the definitive enterprise AI infrastructure. The core thesis is validated by the Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), which is driving exponential commercial acceleration, with U.S. Commercial revenue surging 121% year-over-year. Its true competitive moat is the "data-to-action" loop, enabling clients to securely deploy generative AI models that automate high-stakes operational decisions across their unique data Ontology, a capability few competitors can match. The seemingly insane 40x forward sales multiple is demanded by the market because of the 80% gross margins and the vast, sticky Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) inherited from its high-security government legacy. Critics obsess over dilutive stock-based compensation (SBC), but the core business is now GAAP profitable, consistently generating $1.9-$2.1 billion in Adjusted Free Cash Flow. The stock is a high-conviction bet on the future of Western technological sovereignty, with every major defense and enterprise decision being built on its platform.” | BULL | Q2 2025 Jun 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
Carillon Eagle Mid Cap Growth Fund Eric Mintz, Christopher Sassouni, David Cavanaugh | “Palantir Technologies, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) software and services to governmental organizations, reported robust results and provided a strong outlook, as both the U.S. military and NATO purchased large contracts. Palantir also has had success penetrating non-military agencies of the U.S. government, as well as the commercial (corporate) side of the market with AI use cases that deliver quantifiable added value through its bootcamp product demonstrations. BSD Analysis: Palantir is finally transitioning from a controversial government contractor into a legitimate enterprise software platform with real operating leverage. Its AI-enabled Foundry and Gotham systems solve messy, high-stakes data problems that most companies cannot tackle alone. Government contracts remain the backbone, but the commercial business is accelerating as enterprises realize AI isn't useful without clean, orchestrated data — Palantir's specialty. The company's margin profile is expanding as deployments become more modular and repeatable. Critics focus on valuation, but Palantir's category positioning is rare: it sells mission-critical software at the exact moment AI spending curves are steepening. The sales motion is maturing quickly, aided by AI bootcamps that compress sales cycles. If Palantir keeps proving it can scale commercially, the stock will stop trading like a cult name and start trading like an AI infrastructure winner.” | BULL | Q2 2025 Jun 30, 2025 | View Pitch |
ACATIS Investment Dr. Hendrik Leber | “The share price is driven not just by high growth rates (30-40% in the US) but also by the hopeful anticipation of large projects from the technology-friendly Trump government. Together with Anduril, Palantir wants to compete for next-generation military contracts. The company has a very high valuation, but there seems to be little to stop the share price from rising higher. BSD Analysis: Palantir's moat is workflow embedment in mission-critical environments where failure is unacceptable. Once Gotham or Foundry is wired into operations, ripping it out is politically and operationally risky. Government contracts provide durability but also cap growth optics. Commercial expansion is improving, yet scalability beyond bespoke deployments remains the test. Pricing power exists when value is existential; it weakens in standard enterprise pilots. Profitability has improved, but valuation assumes repeatable AI monetization at scale. Culture and narrative amplify volatility. The bull case is standardized AI platform adoption across industries. Palantir compounds only if it transitions from hero projects to infrastructure.” | BULL | Q4 2024 Jan 6, 2025 | View Pitch |
